Arguably the City of Anna Maria has the most charm on the island, although over the last 10 years it has become quite busy, mostly due to plenty of beautiful vacation rental properties. These properties stay occupied approximately 75% of the year and allow weekly stays which make them attractive to second home buyers and vacationers. Pine Avenue, the main road in the city, is lined with boutiques and restaurants and is great while on vacation. At the end of Pine sits the Anna Maria City Pier which just reopened after hurricane damage and, along with the Rod and Real Pier, offers a chance to get on the water without a boat. Finally, the tip of the island “Bean Point” is by far the prettiest and most serene stretch of beach the island has to offer.
